“Sometimes, when colour falls silent, light begins to speak.”
From the heights around Hampi, I wanted to capture the landscape not for its colour, but for the drama of light moving across it. Heavy monsoon clouds gathered above the rugged boulder strewn terrain, and suddenly shafts of sunlight broke through, falling across the land like curtains of light.
I chose monochrome because colour would have distracted from what moved me most in that moment, the contrast between the dark sky and those luminous rays. The ancient Hampi landscape below feels almost small beneath the vastness of the sky, yet the rocks and hills hold their ground with the same timeless presence they have carried for centuries.
For me, this frame is about that fleeting moment when the monsoon sky opens just enough for light to touch the earth, turning a familiar landscape into something almost divine.
