Dusk from Hemakuta Hill, Hampi
As the light fades over Hampi, the sky turns to streaks of coral and pink (appropriate sky replacement) above the Virupaksha Temple. Its towering gopuram catches the last warm glow, standing out against the blue haze of the boulder-strewn hills behind. In the foreground, weathered stone pavilions and a massive balanced boulder sit on the sloping granite of Hemakuta Hill, and a couple walks hand in hand across the rock, giving the ancient landscape a human, present-day touch. Further out, tiny figures on the rocks and the bustling town below show how alive this World Heritage site still is.
