The Elephant Stables at Hampi stand as a powerful reminder of the grandeur of the Vijayanagara Empire. Instead of photographing only the familiar architectural façade, I included the fallen elephant sculpture prominently in the foreground to create a more poignant narrative. The broken elephant seems to gaze toward the surviving stables, becoming a visual metaphor for an empire that once dominated much of South India but now survives through its magnificent ruins.
A low, wide-angle viewpoint was used to exaggerate the scale of the fallen elephant in the foreground while retaining the entire sweep of the Elephant Stables behind it. The foreground sculpture acts as a strong visual anchor and leads the eye toward the architecture. The overhanging tree was deliberately included as a natural frame, while the broad depth of field keeps both the foreground and monument visually connected.
