“Some photographs are not taken in a moment. They are earned by waiting for light to become poetry.”
I shot this in that beautiful transition between dusk and blue hour, a brief window when the sky begins to deepen and the tones become rich, subtle, and almost dreamlike. I waited for that exact moment, even as the security guard kept whistling, because I knew the scene would come alive only when the light reached that perfect balance. I was glad I held on.
What drew me here was the chance to use a frame within a frame. I composed the Virupaksha gopura within the stone mantapa so that the monument in the distance felt held, almost reverentially, by the architecture in the foreground. The glowing gopura, the deepening sky, and the dramatic clouds all came together to create a scene that felt both grand and intimate. For me, this photograph is about patience, timing, and the joy of seeing a familiar monument transformed by that magical passage from dusk into blue hour.
